Black and White and Read All Over

I'm going to have to keep a list of where I find new possibilities. I visit so many blogs, write down prospective titles, and later don't remember where I found that particular title. At any rate, I just ordered several books:

The Woman in Black by Susan Hill and since I've seen it reviewed on several blogs, I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival.

The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins, which I've read before, but so many years ago, I only remember that I like it. Makes a nice contrast to the Susan Hill novel, eh?

Parnassus on Wheels and The Haunted Bookshop by Christopher Morley, and I don't remember who had these on her R.I.P. list.

  1. That's a good idea -- to keep track of where you heard of something. I forget the source too. And if I could remember the source, I'd probably remember why the book sounded so interesting.

  2. Yes, sometimes I want to refer to their post for comparison, too. But if too much time has gone by, then I can't always find it.

  3. Clever title for this post! Aren't you compelled to read one more book about a woman in ???, red? One of these days I'm going to read Woman in White. At least that was my plan when I bought it several weeks ago.

  4. I thought The Woman in Black sounded interesting as well.

I am currently reading The Woman in White and am really enjoying it. It was a nice book to start after Thirteenth Tale.

  5. Booklogged - Yes! I'm going to look for "a lady in red" - surely there is something out there.

Carl - I still haven't gotten a copy of The Thirteenth Tale, but put a hold on it at the library. May have to wait awhile, but there are plenty of books to keep me occupied.

  6. I'm keen to try The Woman in Black as well after various blog recommendations.

I absolutely loved Parnassus on Wheels but have yet to read the sequel The Haunted Bookshop. Perhaps the RIP challenge is the perfect motivation to finally pick it up!

  7. Maybe I found these titles on your blog, Kate. I kept trying to find where I'd seen them. Both books sound interesting and fun, and I like the idea of mixing up the true gothic with modern gothic and scary ghost stories with funny ones.
