When it rains...

it pours in a nice way. Reading The Book Thief and The Light Years with several other excellent library books waiting. An Amazon order arrived yesterday, and two others are now on their way and should arrive in the next few days.

I'm feeling a little pressure with so many good books in progress and in the waiting to be read pile and more winging their way here. Almost too much of a good thing and too many decisions about what to read next.

Yesterday, there was little time for reading with errands, Tai Chi (great class yesterday), shopping, and K.K. and Jonathan's wedding (K.K. was a gorgeous bride! and Amelia was a beautiful bridesmaid in a slinky black dress - all the bridesmaids were in different black dresses - very effective). Today will be busy, too, but planning on some serious reading time tonight.

  1. I can totally identify with the pressure on choosing from a range of great books! But I much prefer it to trying to choose something from a list where nothing inspires me to pick it up.

  2. Traveller, I have to agree - the absolute worst is not having anything you really WANT to read.

  3. I agree with The Traveller. I also think that we book bloggers need to be careful and try to maintain balance. That's not easy when we enjoy reading others' enthusiasitic reviews and want to read ALL the same books. When I get feeling pressured I just mentally step back and remind myself that I read for enjoyment. We can't read every book. On the other hand, we do get some terrific recommendations and know something about authors and books we may never read. That's a good thing.

  5. booklogged, I love having a good books to read, but I do want to read them all at once and that can't happen. Or at least, not in a way that works for me. The other Amazon orders will probably be here in a few days, but they will have to wait in line.

Danielle, :) I think I'm just too greedy!

  6. Hi, Jenclair!

Like booklogged and the traveller, I, too, sometimes feel the pressure to drop everything and pick up a book that everyone seems to be enjoying, but over time I've learned to enjoy enthusiastic reviews and while I will hurry to procure the book, I will read it at my own pace ( I will admit however that it does feel good to have a highly-praised book looking back at you from your bookshelf!) :)

Wow, I do like the idea of the bridesmaids in black dresses - I'm sure the effect was delightful!

  7. Lotus, I like knowing that they are all there waiting for me. Lately, I have had less time for reading, but my reading will often go in spurts - in fact, all of my interests seem to operate that way. One interest gets priority for awhile and then another moves up and demands attention!

  8. Will look forward to your comments on The Book Thief. It is one I bought recently but am not sure when I will get to read it!
