Too much going on to settle in on reading...

Amelia's shower was a lot of fun. The pictures are here on my other blog. The weekend was packed with activity, and until today, this entire week has been hectic. Today, I'm playing with my new toy, a needle felting machine called an embellisher.

I've received a couple more ARCs, but I have several books going at the moment, so they will have to wait. One is On Borrowed Wings by Chandra Prasad (love the cover) and the other is February Flowers by Fan Wu (another nice cover).

Also have a couple of reviews to write, but I'm still not spending much time reading. I know this trend away from reading will probably end soon, but right now, there are so many other things to do!

  1. I know what you mean about distraction from reading. In the previous comment, you mentioned how you have to keep occupied with handiwork even when you're watching TV. For me I have very short attention span for TV these days, usually the TV session ends right when I finish eating my meal. :)

I panick when my reading gets intruded!

  2. It happens. You seem to go with the flow nicely. The covers of both of those books are beautiful. I've read February Flowers and, in fact, hated it so much that I chose not to even blog about it. My copy had a plain, red cover, though, which made it very, very easy to pass on. :)

  3. Jen: You might want to check that first link in this entry. It's a nice still-life of sewing articles, but definitely not pictures from a shower.

  4. Jill - When will I learn to check my links? Thanks for letting me know!

  5. Matt -- :) I know what you mean...I can become very antisocial when someone interrupts a good book.

Bookfool -- Oh, well, if February Flowers doesn't work out, I'll know not to waste any more time on it. It was an ARC, so no money wasted. :)

  6. Those are beautiful covers indeed, Jenclair! I look forward to hearing what you have to say about the books.

I have been reading, but my last three reads have been just mediocre, nothing in them captured my imagination...

I enjoyed looking at the pictures of the baby shower, thanks so much for linking to them!

  7. Great covers, Jenclair. I find myself being drawn more and more to covers these days. It's a nice little short cut that tells me a little about the book...a great time saver in the long hunt for the perfect book. :-)

  8. I read the Prasad book a while back and really enjoyed it (right sort of book at the right time). I think the cover was what initially drew it to me in the library. I'll have to check out your other book as well (also a nice cover).

  9. Lotus - My latest reads haven't been fantastic either, which is why I have so many books started.

Had the wrong link for the baby shower until Jill let me know!

Sam - Covers have a lot to do with a book being picked up in the first place, don't they? I've read many a book because the cover caught my attention--some have been great, some have been less so, but covers and titles are worth putting thought and effort into.

danielle - I knew I'd read a positive review somewhere of Prasad's book somewhere. I just checked your blog and remembered that it was one of those you didn't want to end. Great! I'm starting this one next!

  10. I love the name of your blog, and your reviews I have read. Like you I can get distracted and have too much going on...homeschooling, Scouts, and my crafts. I collect fabric...need to use it more. I am linking your blog to my Book review blog, and would be happy if you visited either of my blogs. Blessings and peace.

  11. Lucy -- Thanks for the nice comments and for visiting. Homeschooling is something that fascinates me, and the internet has really connected that community. A few years ago, it would have been an isolated activity, but I read several blogs by mothers who are homeschooling, and the connections must make it more fun.

  12. I received On Borrowed Wings also, but like you, it's going to have to wait for a little while.
