This one interests me though not because of the tie to Jane Eyre, however, loose it may be, but because of the cultural dissonance you mention. I will have to look for this one. I watch a lot of Korean drama, so I was especially intrigued. :)jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-48449994402289516152015-05-19T15:46:07.307-05:002015-05-19T15:46:07.307-05:00Okay! But I will just detach my expectation from the original Jane Eyre, and try and consume it on its own merits instead.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-78735198915036643532015-05-19T08:25:14.547-05:002015-05-19T08:25:14.547-05:00Actually, I think it would be more enjoyable and m...Actually, I think it would be more enjoyable and more pertinent without having read Jane Eyre!jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-53355801116513997832015-05-19T08:24:01.650-05:002015-05-19T08:24:01.650-05:00It isn't a cute story, either. She hoped to be more comfortable in Korea, but found that she was "half" there, too. Not only in the eyes of others, but in her own psyche. jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-55292710300551039002015-05-18T23:03:26.090-05:002015-05-18T23:03:26.090-05:00I haven't read Jane Eyre, but this book does s...I haven't read Jane Eyre, but this book does seems interesting to me given the premise and the cultures. I may want to give this a try. I think for me to enjoy these I have to not even think about the original much because then I can imagine making comparisons. Anyway, this story sounds cute more than anything for the story about someone straddling two countries/cultures. Ilianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07026669671843769219noreply@blogger.com
