I invented the details of the description based on his other works. In fact, all the paintings I describe are my own interpretation of what they might have looked like. <br />I'm so glad you enjoyed Human Rites and hope Beatrice continues to pique your curiosity. However, it was not the cover, but the first few pages of the novel that made me wonder if I had a cozy, and it had a lot to do about the protagonist's name! Beatrice Stubbs sounded like the name of a cozy protagonist. Beatrice, however, turned out to be a character with intriguing layers, the two plot lines were compelling, and I ended up wanting to read more in this series. :Ojenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-8394836989667155712016-08-16T04:27:07.548-05:002016-08-16T04:27:07.548-05:00I'm glad you enjoyed this book, Jenclair. I've noticed most cozies tend to use cats or dogs on covers based on the themes related and while I find them OK, they also give me some clues what genres they are mostly about. :) Melodyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03967837585961009598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-59783822469602323252016-08-14T06:44:54.062-05:002016-08-14T06:44:54.062-05:00:) One of my favorite things about reading is all...:) One of my favorite things about reading is all of the connections that can be pursued! jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-48332781349797568972016-08-13T22:42:31.740-05:002016-08-13T22:42:31.740-05:00I am glad you ended up enjoying this one, Jenclair...I am glad you ended up enjoying this one, Jenclair! I like cozies from time to time, but admit I am more partial to other types of mysteries. And it's always fun when a book brings out the researcher in you. :-)Literary Felinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13079276242303738719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-3696137684262142642016-08-13T07:18:20.713-05:002016-08-13T07:18:20.713-05:00No, I'm not usually a fan of cozy mysteries an...No, I'm not usually a fan of cozy mysteries and was happy to find this ended up being an engaging police procedural with an assorted cast!jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-24335913536893306442016-08-13T07:14:05.618-05:002016-08-13T07:14:05.618-05:00HR turned out to be a good mystery with the added ...HR turned out to be a good mystery with the added satisfaction of learning a little more about Expressionist art. :)jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-3087707380535246312016-08-12T15:51:07.607-05:002016-08-12T15:51:07.607-05:00Sounds like another series I need to place firmly ...Sounds like another series I need to place firmly on my radar screen...and sounds as if you fear the inadvertent cozy as much as I fear them. :-)Sam https://www.blogger.com/profile/17448913705757509608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-4506694602032517142016-08-12T15:29:53.759-05:002016-08-12T15:29:53.759-05:00Ooh I love it when a mystery (or any book for that...Ooh I love it when a mystery (or any book for that matter) makes you want to find out more about a certain subject. I admit any time I see a dog/cat on a mystery novel's cover I think it's going to be a tad too cozy for me so I may have overlooked this one but I like the premise! Can't wait to here what you think of the first book in the series!Ilianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07026669671843769219noreply@blogger.com
