Do you find you have trouble suspending your disbelief when the historical voice of a female character is too contemporary (rebellious, determined, etc.)? I have trouble with that. It wouldn't make for very good storytelling to have every heroine give in to her times, though, so I have to tell my inner critic to just shush.Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-87565542172564789912007-09-30T07:28:00.000-05:002007-09-30T07:28:00.000-05:00Court -- I really enjoyed this one; Victorian, Go...Court -- I really enjoyed this one; Victorian, Gothic, fun.jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-56649405148301415952007-09-29T15:14:00.000-05:002007-09-29T15:14:00.000-05:00Happy to hear that you enjoyed this book - this wa...Happy to hear that you enjoyed this book - this was actually the book that got me back into reading YA. :) The gothic feeling to it is really something, isn't it?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-35546860696985848282007-09-09T22:36:00.000-05:002007-09-09T22:36:00.000-05:00Lotus -- Gemma was part of the British colonial co...Lotus -- Gemma was part of the British colonial contingent in Bombay.
