International Correspondence Writing Month (InCoWriMo) is over, but I still have some letters to respond to. It was difficult to get a letter in the mail each day in February and there were days when I had to catch up with three or more letters at a time. A challenge, but fun--especially getting so much mail!
I've received letters from new people, in addition to the folks I usually write, and this has been especially enjoyable. The incoming mail will continue into March--because letters written later in the month take awhile to arrive and some folks are from the UK, Canada, France, and Australia. The main requirement is to write back to everyone who writes you, and I already do that. Maybe not promptly, but persistently.
The last batch of February letters went out on Saturday and on Monday (2.28.22).
Of course, I've been reading, too. A new-to-me series by Rachel McLean; the Dorset Crime books are fast-paced, and I couldn't go through them fast enough! There is an overarching plot that links the books, but each is fine as a standalone.
Now you've intrigued me with Rachel McLean's series!
ReplyDeleteI've started her DI Zoe Finch series and find it as or even more satisfying!
DeleteI'm going to look into that Rachel McLean series. I've been on something of a murder mystery reading kick recently.
ReplyDeleteI've never participated in InCoWriMo, but that might be something to consider next year. It does sound like fun.
The five facts about reading are priceless. And funny!
I enjoyed it and am now enjoying her DI Zoe Finch series. I need fast-paced adventures!
DeleteSeveral people have noted how long they have participated in the InCoWriMo challenge. Old hands prepare in advance, which makes it easier. :)
i can’t remember the last time I wrote a letter, or got one! What a fun thing to be part of.
ReplyDeleteI'm a year-round snail mailer, mostly to the same family and friends, but it was nice to find other folks who enjoy getting and sending mail. Five years or so ago, I participated in the April National Card and Letter Writing Month and started writing old friends I'd lost touch with. That has been especially rewarding. This is my first InCoWriMo challenge, and they are a particularly active group letter writers.
DeleteI still owe you a letter, Jenclair! And those series by Rachel McLean sounds intriguing!
ReplyDelete:) No worries! I enjoyed the Dorset Crime books. :)
DeleteLove reading facts #2 and #5! :D Now if only my library had any copies at all of Rachel McLean's mysteries. They look good. Maybe I should suggest they buy some. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe need to be considerate of our neighbors! Books are really quiet. :)
DeleteThe Dorset Crime series sound good! Adding them to my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteLove the corrected sign on the truck. :)
That Dept. of Corrections sign cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteI corresponded all my childhood with my first friend, Sally, and later I wrote almost every week to my Grandma. I joined in a letter-writing group for February with Care from Care's Books and Pie. There's something wonderful about a letter.
ReplyDeleteI agree--there is something wonderful about a letter! I'll have to check out Care's blog. :)
DeleteThe international letter writing group sounds like a fun thing to do.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, and although the highlight is February's challenge, I think many keep the correspondence. :)
DeleteThank you for posting about the Rachel McLean series, I will certainly look into those books. The international letter writing sounds greatly appealing. I am the only one in the family who writes letters so this would be right up my alley, will look into the website.
ReplyDeleteI love writing letters and finding something besides adds and requests for donations in my mail box. It was a fun and challenging experience to write so many, but I'm glad I hung in!
DeleteI love those envelopes, and I can see why it had to be a struggle to send that many letters in one month. Great job.
ReplyDeleteSo you got through the whole Rachel McLean series in a month? I like the binge-reading concept...kind of flows from the binge TV series viewing we've all kind of gotten used to by now, I suppose. I've been binge-reading Ann Cleeves's Shetland series lately and I'm working on a fifth book right now. It's actually the fourth in the series, but I began with book number seven because it was available first.
Thanks, Sam. The envelopes are part of the fun, but I love the letters.
DeleteSome series lend themselves to binge reading, and I needed some that were fast and easy. Love Ann Cleeves, but I started each of her series when they began and had to wait for each new book.
