I read one of the Maisie Dobbs and enjoyed it, but I read a lot of bon bons! I bet your mother will like it.jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-1144053769612478212006-04-03T03:42:00.000-05:002006-04-03T03:42:00.000-05:00Gosh! I also test-drove a new author for my mother: Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobbs. Pleasant enough read, but not enough to get my teeth into for me. Set in WWI London. I think my mother will like it though.Olga Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10554469124546960971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-1143928777918394422006-04-01T15:59:00.000-06:002006-04-01T15:59:00.000-06:00Thanks, Allison! So glad you mentioned it on your other one.
I do love a good mystery, esp. if it is in another time or place...I will look out for this Bannister fellow's work.
My favorite two authors in this genre at the moment are Alan Furst and Ian Rankin. I like my protagonists to have "surly nobility", and theirs definitley do.allie allerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13158390991360498378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-1142380083724028262006-03-14T17:48:00.000-06:002006-03-14T17:48:00.000-06:00I have been wanting to read Friedman's book! If you haven't, by all means, DO! its I think one of the very best books- and also extremely interesting and entertaining-about life in the Middle East that I have ever read. I read it right before I moved to that region of the world in 1996 and can't recommend it highly enough!Alex Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02109059018269508607noreply@blogger.com
