Weirdly circular. I'm finding myself more and more attracted to stamps. So many beautiful ones available through stamp sites--I've bought some with 32 qne 29 cent postage and have to buy 5, 3, and 2 cent stamps to get enough to send a postcard. :) Since I believe the more stamps the better, it's all good!jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-17148261321240316132016-02-11T11:12:13.761-06:002016-02-11T11:12:13.761-06:00I think the urge to write letters comes and goes--...I think the urge to write letters comes and goes--but the delight in receiving is pretty much a given. Most countries have made adaptations to their mail services that Congress has so far refused to grant our postal system. Sorting and delivering mail is EXPENSIVE, and in finding ways to reduce the rising debt the solution has been to close post offices, reduce hours, and reduce the number of letter carriers. Without first class mail (the stamps purchased are the main source of generating income), things get really tricky. jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-16211964784289001972016-02-11T10:03:56.506-06:002016-02-11T10:03:56.506-06:00I used to love to write letters but then my source...I used to love to write letters but then my sources to write to dried up :(<br />I can't think of a country without snail mail. Thinking of mailing a postcard or letter as sending a little gift helps, when I can pick up the phone, text, email, or FB message so much more quickly. There are only a couple of bills I still put a stamp on, most are paid by drafting my account because of the convenience. I have one daughter and two grands in B.R., so that is always a good excuse, but again email is quicker.jenclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06046532245054911248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22616974.post-15059877683506140632016-02-11T06:43:06.514-06:002016-02-11T06:43:06.514-06:00Handwritten, that is another detail--having a copy...Handwritten, that is another detail--having a copy of someone's handwriting in an age when most communication is from a keyboard. Especially since it takes me forever to hand write a letter. I used to have a pen pal who I exchanged funny greeting cards with. We only used the space of the greeting card. It was such fun. Maybe I should consider doing something like that again . . .<br /><br />Anyway, about your book, it sounds interesting. I'll always have a special place in my heart for the postal service. I get cards and letters in my box about three times a week and those are always the best days. I love sending mail too and have a growing collection of washi tape for decorating envelopes. I would be very sad if the postal service disappeared.Stefaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14943596258182968212noreply@blogger.com
