Give-Away (sticky post)
...is The Shape-Changer's Wife by Sharon Shinn. It will fit in perfectly with the Once Upon a Time Challenge and is an excellent short novel with fairy tale/ folk tale elements. It is easy to see why it won the Locus Best First Fantasy Novel of the Year in 1995. If you are interested in receiving this copy, leave a comment on this post. The drawing will be next Friday (or Saturday). :)
Nymeth is giving away books to celebrate her first year in blogging! Go see.
And the Hugo Nominations are out. The only thing nominated that I've read is The Yiddish Policeman's Union by Michael Chabon...very strange, but I liked it. However, The Last Colony by John Scalzi is there (Scalzi is one of Carl's favorite authors); I really must get around to reading his series.
Oooooo! I like giveaways!
ReplyDeleteSharon Shinn is one of those authors that I have been meaning to read for ages but have never quite managed to fit in the reading schedule.
ReplyDeleteThanks as always for having a great giveaway. I want to read every book that people are doing for this challenge, they are all so interesting!
ReplyDeleteOoohh...Cool book!
ReplyDeleteYou read this one for last year's challenge, didn't you? I would love to read it, so PLEASE put my name in the drawing. My fingers are crossed.
ReplyDeleteOooh, this is one I've been meaning to read too!
ReplyDeleteSeveral names in already! Cheya, I ordered it for last year's challenge, but I couldn't hold out and read it before the challenge began. It was one of those books that got better as it went on, the more you learned, the more you realized Aubrey was learning and growing.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be entered in your drawing, please. Just the cover of this book intrigues me, without even stepping into the story yet!
ReplyDeletePut my name in the hat for The Shape Changer's Wife, please. And thanks for spreading the word about my giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the Hugo nominees, but then again, I very rarely read books the year they are published.
Didn't you review this one last year? I remember reading a very convincing review, and I thought it was yours. :)
ReplyDeleteNymeth - You are welcome. I'm hoping I prove lucky in your drawing :)
ReplyDeleteEva - Yes, I reviewed The Shape-Changer's Wife last year!
I'd like to be considered!
ReplyDeleteCount me in! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteTee-hee, I read this book before it was published! (Sharon was a coworker and friend of mine...) She's a great writer.
ReplyDeleteI would like to be entered to, Jenclair. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to enter - this sounds like a really neat book.
ReplyDeleteEnter me too! Sounds good to me. I have blogged about it here!
ReplyDeleteQuite a few entries for this week's give-away!

This one's really good!!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'd highly recommend the Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis as a great read. The author's imagination and creativity never cease to amaze me. Although most might think that they are for children.,I think most adults would also enjoy reading them. In fact, Disney is coming up with the latest Narnia movie-Prince Caspian, this May 16th. It promises to be awesome by the looks of the trailor. I think its very well-timed also, especially for the kids who'd be on summer break. So dont miss it!

ReplyDeleteOhhh, I love Shinn! She's one of my favourite authors, but I've been pacing myself with her books, not wanting to read them all too quickly. Have you read her Samaria series? The first one, Archangel, is one of the best books I've ever read.
ReplyDeleteIf overseas is indeed ok (I'm in the UK), please do enter me in the drawing.
This book looks really good. Please enter me. Thank you.
