Hand of Evil

Jance, J.A. Hand of Evil. This is the third novel in this series featuring Ali Reynolds, but the first in the series that I've read. I've read quite a few of the Joanna Brady series and enjoyed them.

The novel's plot was all over the place and the characters weren't all that appealing either. I can recommend Jance's Joanna Brady mysteries, I don't feel strongly enough about this one to say much of anything.

Any fans of J.A. Jance out there? If so, how do you feel about this series?

Fiction. Mystery/thriller. 2007. 384 pages.

  1. I'm a J.A. Jance fan. Love the Joanna Brady series. Have not read the one set in Seattle. However, I read book 1 of this series but I can't recall the name...something OF EVIL. Anyway, I did finish it but was not inclined to read another in this series. I just didn't care enough. Does that make sense? I think you and I shared a similar experience.

  2. I'm also a JoAnna Brady fan & didn't care for Ali in the first book of the series. BUT i may abandon Johanna too depending on how the next book goes. She and JP Beaumont (another J.A.Jance series that I don't like) ALMOST "got together" in the last book. YUCK!

  3. Haven't read any of Jance's books. I seem to always see them mentioned in Mystery magazine though! :)

I'll check out the Joanna Brady series...

  4. Kay - Yes, I think this series all have "Of Evil" in the titles. And yes, I think we felt about the same way about our experience with this series.

annmarie - I've never read the JP Beaumont books and now I'm not inclined to try them!

iliana - I've enjoyed the Brady series; hope you do as well.

  6. Annie - I didn't realize Jance had begun this series, either. Nor have I read any of the JP Beaumont series. Sometimes I'm amazed at the output of authors!

  7. Joanna Brady mysteries are terrific. I've read them all. I like the J.J. Beaumont series too. Have not tried the Ali Reynolds series though I've read the back covers out of curiousity. I never go passed the back cover. Brady and Beaumont seemed much more appealing right off the bat.
