Ahhhh, it feels better to have finally finished reviewing all of the 2011 reads. And my reading this month is picking up after a long January dry spell.
Still reading 1Q84 by Murakami, reading Black Diamond by Martin Walker, and re-reading The Dyer's Hand and Other Essays by W.H. Auden after reading Stefanie's posts (and enjoying it as much as the first time).
Finished The Hypnotist by Lars Kepler, another Scandinavian crime novel. It has some problems, but it certainly kept my interest!
Started The Lantern by Deborah Lawrenson, but it wasn't keeping my interest, so I set it aside for a while. I know a lot of people really liked it, so I'm sure eventually it will get my full attention.
I'm going to fix myself a cuppa and read this evening. Sounds like a plan to me. :)
I'm still finishing books I started last year which tastes so stale. I didn't like The Lantern, hope you will get along with it better than I did.
ReplyDeleteCaroline, procrastinating on reviews does make the process feel stale! I've had no pull to return to The Lantern, but maybe when I finish my other books....
ReplyDeleteI hope you got some good reading accomplished!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get into The Lantern at all. It seems to be a very polarizing book.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very good feeling to finish up the previous year's reviews! I did pretty well at getting them finished up early, this year. Very happy about that, since I'm already behind on reviews for 2012.
Isn't it a great feeling to be caught up? I still need to post my Top Ten for 2011, but at least my reviews are up-to-date. Well, at least for 2011. ;)
ReplyDeleteI set 1Q84 aside for a bit. I was enjoying it, but decided to save it for my long flights to Hawaii in March. I have it on my iPad, so I don't have to worry about lugging that huge book on my trip. I hope it continues to holds my interest, but I'm sure I'll take a couple of "real" books, just in case.
I hope you were able to enjoy your evening of reading. I've been doing so much more this month. Nice to get back in my reading/blogging groove!
Kailana - :) I did!
ReplyDeleteBookfool - Well, I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who had problems with The Lantern.
It does feel good to have the previous year's reviews done, but there is never an end, is there?
Les - :) Look forward to your Top Ten. I'm enjoying 1Q84, too, but don't find it a compulsive read. It is one I don't mind leaving, but am eager to get back to.
LOL Nope, there's never an end! Book reviewing is a lot like laundry. :)
