Once Upon a Time |
This year, maybe I will do a better job and post my reviews. First, I need to decide what to read. I recently read Thorn by Intasar Khanani, which I reviewed here. Wish I'd held out until the OUaT challenge had begun, but it was a lovely book.
---------
O.K. - I've ordered a few ebooks, joined the challenge, and am ready to begin. Instead of choosing a specific Quest, I will take the Journey.
Here is a list of the books I've ordered (I had a credit):
Snow in Summer by Jane Yolen
The Light Princess -Illustrated by George MacDonald
Dragon Rose by Christine Pope
Cinderella: The Ultimate Collection (illustrated, annotated, 29 versions) by Charles Perrault, the Grimms, Andrew Lang, etc.)
Cindermaid: A Tale of Cinderella (The Dark Woods series) by Laura Briggs & Sarah Steinbrenner
That makes 5 books that I'll have to get through. Well, I won't have to--because I chose the Journey. But I have so many other books TBR (a stack of physical and a que of ebooks)! Some will just have to wait patiently.
Has anyone read anything by Christine Pope or Briggs &Steinbrenner?
I haven't but this sounds like a fun way to read up on some fairy tale reads. I have sworn off challenges this year but I might put one of these on my list from the library.
ReplyDeleteThe only 2 challenges I ever do (and even that hasn't happened in the last couple of years) are Carl's Once Upon a Time and his R.I.P. challenges. I hope to do a better job of posting my reviews this year. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm doing Once Upon a Time, too, because I had such a good time when I participated several years ago. My added challenge is to find the books on my book shelves but I don't have a fairy tale. May need to borrow a fairy tale from you, Jenny, if you have any you've read and still own. I would like some sort of retelling or revamping of one. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE The Light Princess! I hope you have fun with it--and the whole Journey, of course! I'm also curious to see what you think of Snow in Summer...it's been on my list for a long time. OUaT is always good for inspiring me to read books!
ReplyDeleteTeresa - I'll see what I have on my shelves! I gave all the Shannon Hale books to Erin for Mila, our granddaughter, and a lot of the ones I've read for the challenge in the past have been ebooks. Maybe we can have lunch one day next week, and I'll bring what I have.
ReplyDeleteMarveloustales - Oh, good! I didn't know anything about The Light Princess, so I'm glad I made a good choice!
Yay, you are joining in! I haven't read any of those books or the authors mentioned. I hope they end up to be good finds for you!
ReplyDeleteIliana - Yes, and I'm really in the mood for fairy tales right now!
ReplyDeleteAll those books sound really good! I can't wait to see your posts. :)
ReplyDeleteKelly- I hope they are all as good as the first one, which I just finished. Snow in Summer by Jane Yolen is a great retelling of Snow White! I haven't reviewed it yet, but will get around to it soon.
