The Hibiscus have been gorgeous this year.
They have bloomed and bloomed with such abandon!
My creative efforts took a back seat in June,
but I did do a lot of scrap patching.
Using triangles trimmed from other quilts
and tiny left-over scraps,
I pieced several squares like the one below.
I also played with fabric manipulation
using scraps.

ReplyDeleteI'm always interested in Sherlock, and Ian McKellen as Holmes has a special appeal, doesn't it? Hibiscus thrive in the heat and have such beautiful blooms; they are cheerful and showy. :)
DeleteI have a light orange hibiscus like yours. The 2 cellists were great. I like Mr. Holmes in any shape: Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr., Basil Rathbone, Ian McKellen.
ReplyDeleteI love orange, and the almost translucent effect of these blooms is wonderful. The 2 cellists have such a wide range of styles--I got caught up watching their videos on Youtube. :) There have been some excellent and varied depictions of Holmes!
DeleteAren't those hibiscus beautiful! We planted a lot of stuff over the Spring and it's so wonderful to see things growing. Not a lot of blooming going on in our backyard but ours is pretty shaded. Still I hope to see some blooms later in the summer. And, I love what you did with your scraps.
ReplyDeleteOur yard has gotten more and more shaded as the trees in our yard and neighboring yards have grown so much. I have had to choose sunnier spots for the hibiscus. :)
