Once Upon a Time
If you are participating in Carl's challenge, you might appreciate this flash sale (today only , through April 7) of Intisar Khanani's Thorne. Only 99 cents and the profits go to a great cause:
All proceeds from this sale will go towards helping a good friend cover the cost of international adoption of a pair of biological brothers with Saethre-Chotzen Syndrome--a condition that results in brain damage unless treated. Evan (age 7) and Raymond (age 9) were each given up at birth, and were unable to receive treatment for their condition. They have been in an orphanage in Eastern Europe since birth. You can find out more about the boys and Jamie, and link to their blog, here:http://reecesrainbow.org/83163/sponsorallison-3
I read Thorn and Sunbolt (Amazon links) last year and loved them both.
Oh, nice! I have THORN but I haven't read it yet. I should!
ReplyDeleteI really liked it! It is perfect for the Once Upon a Time challenge!
DeleteYay! Thanks for featuring Thorn! The sale is actually through April 7, so anyone (like me) who is a bit slow at keeping up with blog posts has a chance to nab it. I really appreciate the post!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Intisar-- I updated the post so it has the April 7 deadline! And I'm really eager for the next Sunbolt installment!
DeleteI'm not familiar with the Goose Girl theme, but you made Thorn sound so good and in good company with those other authors in your review. I might pick this up, and good luck to the author's friend in her endeavors.
ReplyDeleteI love a good fairy tale re-telling, and Thorn certainly qualifies! Shannon Hale's Goose Girl is also excellent. :) Hope you do give Thorn a try.
DeleteThanks for the link, Jenclair. Will have to check that out. I am glad to see you joining the challenge as well. Can't wait to hear what books you discover.
ReplyDeleteI will be checking other blogs for some good titles. I always love the Once Upon a Time challenge!
