Cry Wolf

Cry Wolf

I like the cover, the setting (the Sybilline Mountains National Park in Italy), and the fact that it is a new series featuring a park ranger.

That said, I hoped the plot would include more about wolves and less about organized crime.  I usually avoid books that are heavy on mafia-like organizations, but the park ranger and the wolves led me give this one a try.

My favorite character was a minor one;  a kleptomaniac. If you enjoy reading about organized crime, you will probably like this better than I did.

Read in December.  Blog post scheduled for March 14.

  1. This is a wonderful setting, and I love the cover. It's a shame this didn't work for you. I'm not drawn to books about organized crime either.

    1. I'm not sure why I avoid organized crime/mafia books, since I love mysteries, crime, and police procedurals. I liked the cover and title much better than I liked the plot.

  2. I like the cover too. I don't mind reading books about organised crime as long as they don't get too heavy.

    1. Maybe organized crime is too close to the truth for me. Those people are real-life scary, not like the evil villains in a lot of crime novels. :\

  3. That's too bad. I would like to have read more about the wolves too. I don't mind books about organized crime, depending on the type of book it is. It's not a subject matter I gravitate towards on its own generally though.

    1. It was the park ranger in an Italian national park who was studied wolves that drew me in, but that did not end up really being what the book was about. :(

  4. What a great setting but too bad the book didn't quite work. I'm not drawn to stories of organized crime either although I love mysteries. I might give this one a go though just for the setting alone.
