Weekly Geeks & Other Stuff

The Weekly Geeks topic this week is favorite books from your childhood. I had so many books that I loved that thinking back and trying to remember all of them was an interesting experience.

Pippi Longstocking; All of a Kind Family; Ann of Green Gables; Cheaper by the Dozen; Little Women; Little Men; Jo's Boys; The Secret Garden; Caddie Woodlawn; Hitty, Her First Hundred Years; The Wind in the Willows; Charlotte's Web; Swiss Family Robinson; Black Beauty; Treasure Island...and more. How many hours of comfort these books gave me!

There are others that were favorites when my kids were little, too, but I won't go into that. My childhood favorites are older classics, and yet, I think they hold up and have appeal today.

Received a bunch more ARC's in yesterday's mail. This is a great thing because next week we will be leaving for Florida, and I'll be fully prepared with books for the trip.

  2. My oldest has read Black Beauty at least 3 times in the last 5 years. It makes me so happy to see her reading for pleasure!

PS I deleted my previous comment due to typo gremlins and lack of an edit button.

  3. I missed most of those when I was growing up, but I am slowly but surely catching up.

    Have a nice trip :)

  4. I loved Charlotte's Web when I was a kid, heck I still love it and when Charlotte dies I still cry. Every time.

  5. I forgot about Caddie Woodlawn...I really loved her!

  6. Kylee - I love hearing that your daughter is just as enchanted with Black Beauty as I was!

Nymeth - :) I hope you are finding some of the classic children's literature to be worth the effort of catching up on!

stefanie - I know...I cry every time, too!

Bybee - Oh, and Laura Ingalls Wilder and the Little House books! I so wanted to be a pioneer!
