Books in the Mail & Once Upon a Time

When I took this picture, the top three were in progress; now, I've finished The Tapestry of Love and What You Can See in the Dark.  Slowly working on The Mighty Eighth, reading When Tito Loved Clara and The Gift by Hafiz.

About to begin reading The Shadow Hunt in a buddy read with Kailana because Carl has announced the Once Upon a Time Challenge!  Yes, this yearly delight is on target, and I've got lots of books in mind (see previous post) and am taking notes when other bloggers mention their choices.

I've been busy in the yard and crafting, but must find time to catch up on reviews.  Finding time to read isn't a problem, but I do need to finish  When Tito Loved Clara-- The Mighty Eighth and The Gift can be read in small increments here and there.  I will be devoting my reading to Once Upon a Time for a while.

This weekend will be busy as we will be out of town for my niece's wedding.  Next weekend, I'm really hoping to make a trip to Canton, TX for their HUGE flea market.

  1. Hi! I think I am going to read The Shadow Hunt this week. :) I just finished the book I had in progress and am going to concentrate on finishing up a few books I started and haven't completed yet. In the midst of that, I will likely start a new book. :)

  2. Kailana - I think I'll start as soon as I finish When Tito Loved Clara...if not sooner. Let me know how you want to handle this buddy read. :)

  4. Glad you are along for year 5! It will be fun to read your buddy review with Kailana. We are going to do a de Lint buddy read together which will be fun.

I do so hope you get to go to that Flea Market. I've been wanting to do more flea market shopping myself and would die to go to a really big one.

  8. Stefanie - I am enjoying The Gift, and I'm so glad you used some of his poems in your posts because that is why I finally got around to ordering the book. Hafiz was a gift, in himself and his poetry.

Carl - I've been in on this one every year, although I don't always do the Linky for every book. I'll be watching for the de Lint buddy read that you and Kailana are doing.

My daughter and I went to Bonnie & Clyde TRade Days last weekend--it is pretty big, but Canton's has spaces for over 6,000 vendors! It has been in operation since the 1850's.

Anne - What You Can See in the Dark was interesting--I'll be reviewing it soon!

Kim - Most of my books are ARCs and library books or books I order and can shelve. Mostly use the Kindle when traveling or when I want a book RIGHT NOW. :)

Chris - It's a tall order, isn't it? Luckily, I'm read pretty quickly and almost every day!

  10. Caroline - both challenges are great excuses for escape reading! I've loved participating in them and reading about what other bloggers have said about their books.

  14. I see from the photo there is a book on the Eight Air Force a/k/a the Mighty Eight. It was the last air force assembled before the creation of the USAF and my father was assigned to it. He worked at Gen. Doolittle's UK headquarters helping to plan the D-Day invasion. Thus, I am gonna have to buy this book.

  15. Violette - My father was a navigator, so I have an interest in the Mighty Eighth as well. Our fathers were a part of a great tradition, and it behooves us, perhaps, to learn more. It would be interesting to read more about what went on at Gen. Doolittle's headquarters.

I've read several nonfiction books focusing on the war and enjoyed them all.
