Sabine Hardison is missing. Beth Murphy is on the run. Told from three points of view: the woman on the run, Sabine's husband Jeffrey, and the detective investigating Sabine's disappearance.
I was reminded of Sleeping with the Enemy and still was not prepared for the twist.
I have not read anything by Kimberly Belle before, but I will be looking for more.
Read in February; blog review scheduled for June 10, 2019.
NetGalley/Harlequin
Mystery/Thriller. June 25, 2019. Print length: 384 pages.
I'm curious after reading your review! Have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteIt kept me in suspense. :O
DeleteI'm looking forward to this one as I have read other books by Kimberly Belle. I liked them, though probably didn't love them to death. Ha! Domestic thrillers.
ReplyDeleteThere are SO many domestic thrillers, and they aren't my favorite sub-genre, but this one felt different. And there definitely was a surprise at the end. :)
DeleteI'm intrigued! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd you will be more so when you try to see through this plot. :)
DeleteI thought of Sleeping with the Enemy too (that moment where Julia Roberts notices all the towels have been straightened in her kitchen. YIKES). You have me intrigued and I already have a theory...guess I'll just have to read it to see if I'm right!
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear your theory! If you read it, I'll be checking in on you to see what you thought. :)
DeleteIntriguing recap - especially your reference to "a twist." And Sleeping with the Enemy is one of my favorite novels of this type, so there's that, too, to yank at my curiosity. I'll be looking at this one, thanks.
ReplyDeleteI didn't read the novel, but the creep-factor in the film was so well done! This one may not compare, but it surprised me.
DeleteThis sounds really good; thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe suspense of a woman trying to escape an obsessive and abusive partner always gives me chills!
DeleteLove the kitty! I hadn't heard of this one but I'm always up for a thriller and especially if it's got a good twist.
ReplyDeleteIt surprised me--the twist wasn't expected until the author wanted the reader to catch on. :)
