Trick or Treat?

I don't know what happened, but this morning I found 160+ entries on my book blog Feedly!  How will I ever catch up, and where were all of these yesterday or the day before?  Some I understand--Foreword Reviews and Civilian Reader will publish a bunch at once.  However, there are many from blogs I read regularly that just appeared!

Trick or Treat?  Finding all of these at once feels like an unpleasant trick.  Oh, well, it isn't as if I have big plans today. :)

On the Upside

* Yesterday, Fee and I voted.  Bossier Parish made it easy, and we were able to deliver our ballots by driving through a location at the Bossier Parish Court House and delivering them in person (through a car window)!  We had planned to go to the History Center polling place last week, but there was a line.  Not a terribly long one like in many places, but we decided to do the drive-through for convenience.  It felt good, and I'm glad to have that done.

* I've had wonderful Halloween mail!

* Fee (my Renaissance Man) made a pecan pie!  What is a pecan pie but candy in a pie pan.  Mmmm.

* We celebrated another anniversary on the 29th.  :)

* No more mosquitoes!  It isn't cold here, but cold enough to eliminate those blood suckers.  Finally.

Cathy's post about her El Dias de la Muertos alter with all of the decorations, photos, and memories of loved ones inspired me to make a collage of some of the La Calaveras Catrina dolls I've made in the past.  Amelia liked the first one, so I made better ones for her and Erin, then made one more (in her skivvies) for me.

Happy Halloween!

  1. I'm so glad y'all had an easy time voting. We waited a few days until the lines weren't as long and thankfully it was a super speedy process. Happy Halloween! :D

    1. After seeing so many long lines in various places, I was so happy to have our experience turn out to be easy and efficient. Glad you had a good experience, too, Ashley. :)

  2. How strange to have so many posts show up all at once. I don't know about you, but I always feel a sense of calm when my Bloglovin' feed is finally empty. I try to stay on top of my blog-hopping, but sometimes life just gets in the way. Happy Anniversary! We're just a few years ahead of you and it's coming up (Nov. 6th). Not sure how we'll celebrate this year. Maybe take-out from our favorite restaurant, which has amazing crab/champagne risotto and halibut. Glad you are finished with mosquitoes. We see a few here and there, but they're not nearly as annoying as they were when we lived in Nebraska. They love me, but leave my husband alone, which I find completely unfair. Those are great dolls! I especially love the one in her skivvies. :)

    3 more days!

    1. The book blog category hit me first, but it turned out all of my categories were really full of older posts I'd missed. A conundrum. Yep, those anniversaries just keep on coming, and aren't we grateful that they do! I didn't make any Halloween characters this year, this is the first time in years I skipped Halloween crafting.
      3 more days!

  3. Sounds like voting in LA is a snap. That's good to hear.

I was able to take my three grandchildren with me to vote the other day in Houston. They are all first-timers, being 21, 19, and 18, so that was kind of special to me. I hope they form the habit. We were in and out in about 15 minutes.

    1. It was easy voting here in Bossier Parish, but Shreveport, just across, the river evidently made it much more difficult. Good for you and your grandchildren making it a special first voting occasion, Sam!

  4. Happy Halloween! Lovely dolls

Good to know it isn't just me. I question why blog posts have been turning up on the update reading list hours after they should have appeared.

    1. Thanks, Ruthiella! It was a quiet Halloween last night as we are in an older neighborhood, but I hope all the kids had fun. There were some creative techniques in other neighborhoods to let the kids enjoy the holiday and still keep safe. :)

  6. Feedly is the blog reader I use, and it is how I know when my favorite blogs post. Except evidently there was some kink in the system and instead of getting them daily, there was a pile up all at once. Foreword Reviews does this regularly, posting 15 or 20 links to reviews at one time, but this was a mix of everything. I gave up trying to get through them all.

I haven't read Ian Rankin for a while, I'm way behind in that series, but I love books set in Scotland. Val McDermid is a favorite.

Thanks for the comment on the Catrinas--I had fun making them. :)
