I've read one book by Avi, with my kids. It was Windcatcher, a great children's myster story. Your whole list looks good!

I read Amulet of Samarkand several weeks ago and absolutely fell in love with Jonathan Stroud and the Bartimaeus trilogy! (I'm currently reading Ptolemy's Gate.) You'll have to let me know what you think of it!
I see a lot of YA - something that I intended to do but more with classics like Kidnapped and Jungle Book. There was an amazing special at chapters and I just picked up half a dozen. Sooo exciting. i love challenges.

Nessie -Yes, about half of them are YA or children's lit, and I'm excited that so many look good.

Sounds like a wonderful list! I really enjoyed Coraline myself. But that's the only one I've read.

These challenges are so tempting! I think I am definitely going to have to give Neil Gaiman a try--my library has Coraline, so I may have to check that one out!
My son has read the Bartimaeus Trilogy and loves it.
I plan to check out this series as well as some of the other books on your list!
