The Crows

Soule, Maris. The Crows.

When P.J. is shot at in the woods, she manages to get home only to find a dying man in her house. From deadly Ladybugs to counterfeiting. And a dead father. This one never really made me believe, but it was short. Which was a good thing. Nice cover, though.

Fiction. Mystery. 2007. 262 pages.

  4. Heh! The cover was great, but the book was not. That is why it was a good thing that it was short!

  5. I really enjoyed the book. In fact three of my friends also ordered the book and said they loved it so much that they couldn't put it down. I've loaned out my copy to others and they've passed it on to their friends with good reviews.

Sorry you didn't like it, but I thought the characters were interesting, and had more depth then some of the "big" name writers sometimes bother with. I liked the fact that PJ thought she was going crazy. I thought that was the whole point of the outlandish tales of lady bugs. To foster an environment that seemed surreal.

I think its a great read, and I have recommended it to all my friends and relatives.

  6. Anonymous - I'm glad you enjoyed it. My reviews are no more than my opinion, and since we are all different, worth no more than the opinion of anyone else.

Obviously, since the author has written a number of books, quite a few people enjoy her work. My lone voice will not have an effect on her sales. :)

I read (and get a kick out of) a particular blog that frequently slices and dices books that I have enjoyed. Of course, she is so witty and so amusing that even when she criticizes, I can't help but laugh. Wish I were as witty and articulate, but ... no such luck. Sorry if my review offended you - not intentional!
